A/Prof Chng Wee Joo in his joint study with Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School has found that Telomerase, an enzyme responsible for cancer cells' ability to divide, also triggers chronic inflammation. They are currently screening for Telomerase-targeted drugs which could potentially lead to better control of inflammation in cancer and eventually lower healthcare expenses. Mar 2013
