Beyond medical school and housemanship, each NCIS doctor keeps himself abreast of changes in medicine generally, particularly in areas relevant to his practice. This is to ensure that patients are provided with up-to-date medicine and the best quality care. It is for these reasons that the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) has made Continuing Medical Education (CME) compulsory for all doctors in Singapore with effect from 1 January 2003. CME consists of educational activities that serve to maintain, develop or increase the knowledge, skills and professional performance of a doctor. At NCIS, CME talks are conducted by medical staff and primarily for GPs, Nursing and Allied Health professionals. These CME talks qualify as core points only for GPs who attend.
Oncology Grand Rounds
Oncology Grand Rounds are held monthly by NCIS and feature lectures, topic reviews or case studies by senior specialists or invited local and overseas consultants for both doctors and other healthcare professionals within the hospital with an interest in oncology.
They are held on the first and third Wednesdays of the month.
