TheDepartment of Haematology-Oncology, on the other hand, is one of thetwo accredited Departments recognised by the School of Post GraduateTraining, National University of Singapore and the Academy of Medicine,for the sub-specialty training of haematology and medical oncology inSingapore.
Medical Oncology Registrar Training Programme
TheDepartment runs a three-year Medical Oncology Registrar TrainingProgramme. This structured training programme prepares candidates forthe exit certification by the Specialty Training Committee under theJoint Committee of Specialty Training, Singapore. The programme's aimsare for:
- Trainees to acquire sound knowledge of core curriculum subjects through didactic lectures, self-reading and journal clubs; and
- Traineesto gain experience by supervision in the management and treatment ofindividual cancers and by having outpatient and inpatientresponsibilities.
Haematology Registrar Training Programme
Athree-year training programme designed to prepare the candidate to be afully functioning clinician as well as a laboratory pathologist. Thetraining goal is the passing of the examinations leading to aMembership of the Royal College of Pathologists (Haematology) orFellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists Australasia.
