The Division of Paediatric Haematology-Oncology collaborates with the Viva-University Children's Cancer Centre (VUC3) to provide care for young cancer patients with conditions ranging from leukaemia to solid tumours.
The Division is also active in research, conducting studies into areas such as solid tumours and haemopoietic stem cell transplants using cord blood or natural killer cell transplants. The Division has been conducting a leukaemia clinical trial since 2003 with a cure rate exceeding 85 percent, placing the Division among the best in the world.
VIVA-University Children's Cancer CentreThe Viva-University Children's Cancer Center (VUC3) is housed in Ward 88, Kent Ridge Wing in the National University Hospital. It is a one-stop centre complete with the inpatient wards and outpatient consultation and day therapy areas. This facility is the seat of the St Jude-Viva International Outreach Programme and the Viva Foundation's Centrer of Excellence for the treatment of childhood cancers. Funded by the Singapore Totalisator Board and Viva Foundation, it is the centre for research, training and treatment of children with cancer for Viva Foundation. It provides training for doctors, nurses, technologists, administrators, care-givers and other personnel from both Singapore and the region, in the care, treatment and follow-up of children with cancer and childhood cancer survivors. It aims to be a centre for clinical research in paediatric oncology and paediatric stem cell transplantation. Its vision is to bring paediatric cancer treatment to the highest level in Asia.
