Les Amis Cooking MasterClasses 2014

 

The Les Amis Cooking MasterClasses are an ongoing collaboration between the Les Amis Group and the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS) featuring a series of cooking classes with chefs from the award-winning culinary group for cancer patients and their caregivers. Together with the Department of Dietetics in the National University Hospital, the chefs of the Les Amis Group have concocted the recipes to cater to the nutritional and dietary needs of cancer patients.


At each class, a Chef from the Les Amis Group will conduct a live cooking demonstration for participants teaching them how to prepare two dishes based on healthy cooking practices so that they may incorporate healthy eating in their daily diets. The classes are conducted in an interactive manner whereby participants are able to engage with the Chef, sample the featured dishes, bring home recipes of the featured dishes as well as bond with fellow class participants.

 

Classes are FREE and we warmly welcome all cancer patients and their caregivers for a mouth-watering food bonding session.

Chef Melvin Neow

Head Chef, Peperoni Pizzeria

Les Amis Group

 

"Peperoni Pizzeria's Head Chef Melvin Neow had his first touch with cooking when he was 18. Sharing a funny anecdote, Melvin revealed that his inspiration in cooking began as a teenager, when he watched celebrity Chef Martin Yan's popular cooking show Yan Can Cook. The show piqued Melvin's curiosity towards the profession, and soon after, he decided to pursue a career in cooking."

Chef Galvin Lim

Executive Chef, Les Amis Group

 

"Les Amis Group's Executive Chef, Galvin Lim, began his culinary odyssey as a student at Shatec. After his graduation, he worked his way up through the ranks at Shangri-La's now defunct La Tour Restaurant. 

 

Galvin spent eight years learning the ropes of his profession under the tutelage of Mentor-Chef David Mollicorne, before joining the Au Jardin opening team as Resident Chef. Over the years during his stint here with the Les Amis Group, he has been in training overseas in some of the world's most renowned kitchens such as Lameloise in Burgundy, Le Gavroche in London, L'Auberge des Cimes in St. Bonnets les Froids Rangis Macon, and Les Elysees du Vernet in Paris under Alain Soliveres."
