Mindfulness Group Practice

"Mindfulness is paying attention in a particular way; on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgementally." - Dr Jon Kabat Zinn

About Mindfulness Group Practice

Are you coping effectively and living well with cancer? “Mindfulness” is a skill that can be cultivated to help you manage challenges throughout your cancer journey. By training your mind to stay in the present moment as your life is unfolding, it helps you to be accepting of yourself and your body. Today, Mindfulness has far-reaching effects in all walks of life including medicine and healthcare, business, and education.

Mindfulness has been shown to be effective in cancer patients for managing:

  • Sleep difficulties
  • Pain
  • Tiredness
  • Stress
  • Mood disturbances (e.g. depression, anxiety)
  • Concentration difficulties
  • Nausea etc

This group will teach participants to cultivate the skill of Mindfulness through practices such as:

  • Mindful breathing exercises
  • Sitting, walking, and lying down meditation
  • Gentle yoga
  • Body awareness exercises
  • Practices for sleep and pain management etc
During each session, our Clinical Psychologist will conduct informal discussion sessions to encourage participants to share their experiences with the group to facilitate mutual learning and enhance their personal practice.
