NCIS recognises that patients and their families may find it hard to cope with their disease and with life during and, after treatment. Our supportive care services are designed to provide patients and their families with the necessary information and skills to cope with cancer and the effects of treatment

 

 

CancerLine
 

This is a free telephone service that provides information and counseling on cancer-related issues for patients, their families, and members of the public. Staffed by trained oncology nurses, the CancerLine is an anonymous and confidential telephone service.

Pro-Self Programme
 

This programme is designed to provide patients receiving chemotherapy treatment with the information, skills and support to better cope with their illnesses. Patients attend individual counseling sessions conducted on weekdays by oncology-trained nurses to learn useful self-care skills such as managing the side effects of treatment.

"Look Good Feel Better" Programme
 

This is a free national public service coordinated by the Singapore Cancer Society. Conducted once every two months by volunteers and assisted by our oncology nurses, the programme teaches beauty techniques for female patients to overcome the temporary appearance-related changes from cancer treatment. It also helps to improve their self-esteem and enable them to manage their diseases and treatment with greater confidence.

Home Care


This service is for cancer patients who are well enough to be discharged from hospital but still require some form of support and nursing care at home. The services include changing of patient's dressing, flushing of catheters, changing of nasogastric tubes. In addition, caregivers will be trained on some basic nursing care skills. This service is offered at no charge but patients may be required to pay for consumables.
