Biosketch

Dr Andre Cheah is in full-time clinical practice as a Senior Consultant and Fellowship Programme Director at the Department of Hand & Reconstructive Microsurgery, National University Hospital. He contributes in the academic realm as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. 

His main clinical interest is in treatment of acute and chronic wrist problems, post-traumatic deformities of the upper limb as well as compressive neuropathy involving the nerves of the upper limb. He believes in treating his patients with the least invasive methods possible. In addition to open surgery, Dr Andre Cheah is adept in wrist arthroscopy as well as endoscopic decompression of nerves. 

He has published and presented on injuries to the proximal interphalangeal joint at home and internationally and has approximately 30 peer-reviewed publications under his name. He has a keen interest in the generation of intellectual property and is deeply involved in numerous projects focusing on the design of splints, prostheses and surgical tools.  

On top of his passion for his vocation as a doctor, he is deeply interested in the matters of business, policy, and human behaviour - in particular, how they interact in the arena of healthcare. He is currently the Group Director of Medical Manpower and Human Resource Analytics, NUHS, where he helps the administration in matters related to Human Resources.

Dr Andre Cheah graduated in 2003 from the Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He completed his specialist training in Hand Surgery in 2010 and was awarded the College of Surgeons Gold Medal in Hand Surgery for the best performing candidate that year. He obtained a Masters in Business Administration from INSEAD in 2012 and was a Visiting Scholar at the Robert A. Chase Hand & Upper Limb Center, Stanford University School of Medicine in 2015.
