Dr Gowans is a Senior Consultant in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at NUH. Her main clinical interests are in inflammatory bowel disease and general gastroenterology and hepatology. Her current research is in the field of inflammatory bowel disease in Singapore. She is the Director of Undergraduate Education for Gastroenterology, as well as a Core Tutor for the Post-Graduate Gastroenterology Training Programme.
Dr Gowans graduated from Otago Medical School, NZ, in 1999 and worked in both New Zealand and the UK before starting her training in Auckland, NZ, in Gastroenterology and General Medicine in 2005. She completed her training in Gastroenterology in May 2009 and subsequently moved to Singapore where she became a board certified gastroenterologist in October 2009.
