Breast cancer is the most common cancer among Singaporean women in the last 50 years and the leading cause of cancer deaths among women. According to the Singapore Cancer Registry, there were nearly six newly diagnosed cases and one death occurring every day in 2013-2017, and the risk of developing breast cancer has increased sharply over the years, mainly affecting elderly women aged 60-79 years.

Every October marks the Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM), an national campaign to raise awareness for this cause. Come and join us at our virtual events from wherever you are!

The NCIS Pink Plank Challenge aims to bring a fun challenge to spread more awareness about breast cancer among Singaporeans, young and old. We hope that both men and women can partake in this by encouraging their loved ones and family members (especially elderly females) to protect themselves by going for regular mammograms and practice breast self-examination for early breast cancer detection.

Simply do the 1-minute challenge with us any time throughout the entire month of October 2020. All you have to do is tos:

  1. Record a video of yourself planking* in pink for at least 1 minute and post if on your Facebook or Instagram (set post to public)

  2. Tag @NationalUniversityCancerInstituteSingapore and include hashtags #NCISPinkPlankers and  #PinkPlankSG in your post caption

  3. Nominate 3 friends to participate in this challenge by tagging them.
