He went on to obtain his Master of Medicine (Paeds) and MRCPCH (UK) in 2015. In 2017, he was awarded the Exxon-Mobil Fellowship for Clinicians, and also received the MOH Healthcare Scholarship for his Master of Clinical Investigation (MCI), which he obtained in 2019.  Subsequently, he was awarded the NMRC Research Training Fellowship in 2019 for a 2.5 year fellowship in leukemia genomics under Dr Yang Jun in St Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, USA, for which he obtained his PhD in 2024. During his PhD tenure, he has published several high impactful papers in top journals including JAMA Oncology, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Blood, and Nature Medicine. For his research work, from 2021-2025, he received several international awards including the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Scholar-In-Training Award, the Society of Hematologic Oncology Young Investigator Award for his work on genomic diversity of childhood leukemia, and the AACR Pediatric Fellowship Grant Award in 2025. In Singapore, he was also awarded the Singapore College of Clinician Scientist INEX-Oscar Awards in 2023, two consecutive National University of Singapore Best Graduate Publication Awards in 2023 and 2024, and the 2025 Wang Gangwu Medal for Best PhD Thesis in the Natural Sciences.

Dr Lee is currently a Physician-Scientist with dual roles as Consultant Pediatric Oncologist at National University Hospital Singapore, and Adjunct Assistant Professor at the National University of Singapore. He is dual specialist board-certified in Pediatric Medicine and Pediatric Hematology-Oncology, and is also an accredited allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant (HSCT) physician. Clinically, he manages a broad range of pediatric hematology-oncology cases with particular expertise in leukemias, lymphomas, CAR-T cell therapy, and stem cell transplantation. His research interests are in translational, South-East Asian population-adapted precision medicine trials in childhood leukemias, focusing on pharmacogenomics, drug sensitivity profiling, and immunogenomics for greater personalized oncology therapy in childhood cancers.
